In your My Account dropdown menu, under Account Settings, you can access your Scoring System. Here, you can choose which set of grading flags you would like to use in your classroom: Numbers, Letters, or Faces. You can manually give reading responses submitted by their students a grade equivalent to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 4+. This five-option scoring system allows teachers to follow either a four-level grading rubric (reserving the 4+ for extraordinary responses) or a five-level grading rubric (including the 4+). Once a grade is given, it can be changed by the teacher at any time.
If you are a teacher in a school that has purchased one of our ReadaFun for Schools licenses, then you will have access to the automatic grading system. This system uses a machine learning algorithm and years of accumulated grading data to assess each written response and automatically assign a grade. Teachers can then approve or override this grade before it is seen by the student.
Please note: The automatic grading system only awards scores equivalent to 2, 3, or 4. It does not award a 1 or a 4+. Since a 1 is a failing or below grade level score on most rubrics, the automatic grading system leaves that score to the discretion of the teacher. Similarly, a 4+ grade is left for the teacher to give when (s)he feels a student deserves an exceptional score for an above grade level response.
